PWS2010For the third year in a row several members of the Moorhead Brewers squad will participate in the 2010 NABA World Series in Phoenix coming up later this week. The team this year received sponsorship from Max Bat this year and will be listed as "Team Max Bat". There are several new faces on this year's roster, including Jake Laber of the Fargo/Moorhead Redhawks, Jake Lund (Class C State Tourney MVP) of Midway, Dane Secott from Shakopee, and University of Texas Alum Mike Kolback.

Key losses from last year's squad are catcher Justin Johnson, pitcher Ryan Seifert from Chaska, pitcher Scott Hollingsworth from Jordan, and outfielder Doug Lonski. However, the team will add Mike Peschel (who got sick right before the tournament last year) as well as Ryan Olson and Dale Dingmann who took last year off.

The previous two years the team has faired well in the top division, making the playoffs both times but losing in the first round each year. This year the 18+ wood bat division has been divided into upper and lower divisions and the team was put in the upper division. In the top division, there are no restrictions on professional status. The team looks forward to facing some of the top amateur teams in the country and playing against some current pros.

It all starts Thursday at noon at Tempe Diablo Stadium (home of the Angels) against the San Diego Shockers. The Phoenix area is expecting record heat, so the weather may be a "shocker" for the boys from the North!

The team will post scoring updates on the Moorhead Brewers twitter page.
