The powerful 1-2 punch of Chris Coste and Chris Clemenson and solid pitching put the Brewers in the title game of the stacked Jordan/Shakopee Tournament. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th in a tied game versus St. Michael, Coste singled and Clemenson followed with a walkoff 2-run shot to end the game, his second home run of the day. With the win, the Brewers finished 3-0 in pool play and moved on to face St. Louis Park in the Championship game on Sunday.

The Brewers beat 3 quality teams to reach the final, Cold Spring Springers, 2-time defending state champ Shakopee, and St. Michael. Unfortunately the string of 2nd place finishes continued for the Brew Crew. This is the 3rd tournament this year the Brewers failed to bring home hardware (Brookings & Kimball previously). St. Louis Park jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and the Brewers seemed to run out of gas in the sweltering heat... With one on in the 5th, Tom Fuchs deep fly ball clipped the top of the wall and fell in, barely missing a home run that would have tightened up the game. Instead, the Brewers left runners in scoring position once again and as a result never really gave themselves a chance in this game.

Despite the loss, the Brewers made had a successful weekend, going 3-1 against top notch competition. This should be a very good warmup for the playoffs coming up in a few weeks. On Wednesday, the team will try to rebound with a game against the Jamestown Elks in Jamestown.
