Brewers Hold Off Canes

After 3 consecutive game cancellations, the Brewers got a much needed workout from the Fergus Falls Canes on a breezy Friday night at DeLagoon Field in Fergus Falls.  The Brewer bats looked good in the first inning, but then fell silent the rest of the way in the 9 inning contest.  Austin Baukol was the starting pitcher for the Brewers and threw 6 solid innings, holding the Canes to just one run.  Brook Lyter and Mike Peschel pitched in relief, with Peschel earning the save.  Jeremy Peschel was 2 for 4 to lead the offense. Brewers 14 Game Win Streak Snapped At Miller Lite Invitational

The Moorhead Brewers traveled to Green Isle/Arlington as reigning champions of the 2007 Miller Lite Invitational tournament.  As usual, this year's field featured some of the best teams in Class 'C'.  The Brewers advanced to the semi-final round but failed to get past host Green Isle on Sunday, losing 6-5.  The Brewers beat St. Joseph in the opening round and cruised past Litchfield to setup a rematch against Green Isle.  Under bright skies and a swirling breeze, the afternoon contest got a little wild, a little ugly.  Both teams complained about umpire calls and the starting centerfielder for Green Isle was tossed. There was even an argument about DH rules which led to some fiesty talk on the field and even with fans.  Overall, the Brew Crew did not get the consistent pitching and defense they needed to beat a good class 'B' team.

Brewers Win New Prague Invitational

The Brew Crew grabbed the hardware at the New Prague Invitational with 3 big victories over tough competition.  Chad Berg, Chris Clemenson, and Jeremy Peschel were all named to the all-tournament team.

The Brewers faced the Green Mill Brewers and the Minneapolis Rocks in the first two rounds to advance to the championship game against Jordan.  The Brewers beat Jordan 6-3 and got another great outing from Mike Peschel, who struck out 11 Jordan batters through 7 innings.  Jordan advanced to the championship by beating Cannon Falls and St. Benedict and entered the game with a 12-2 overall record.  It was noted that each team the Brewers faced in the tournament went on to win their remaining games.  The Green Mill Brewers defeated Canon Falls in the consolation bracket.
