GAME SUMMARY

Fresh off their 15th win in a row the Moorhead Brewers faced another squad from Jamestown, the Merchants, at Helling Field on Wednesday evening. The Brewers grabbed a 1-0 lead striking quickly in the bottom of the 1st. The game turned into a no-contest in the bottom of the 2nd stanza as the Brewers sent 14 to the dish in the inning tallying 8 runs to make the score 9-0. Four walks and 2 hit batsmen fueled the charge as the Merchants pitching had trouble finding the strike zone. Tom Fuchs delivered with a double to right center scoring a pair to put the game out of reach. Gabe Shockman started on the mound for the Brewers and threw 5 scoreless innings to get the win striking out 3 and only giving up 3 hits. Todd Fuller homered for the 2nd straight night putting the Brewers up 10-1 after 7 innings. The teams traded 2-run innings as the gamed ended 12-3 in favor of the Brewers. Mike Peschel, Chris Clemenson, Tim Jallen, and Todd Fuller each had 2 hits on the night to lead the Brewers offensively. Fuchs drove in 3 and Fuller had 2 RBI as the Brewers win streak moved to 16 in a row on the season. The Brewers are off until Tuesday night when they face the Moorhead Expos in Game 2 of the West Central League Playoffs with the Brewers holding a 1-0 lead in the best of three series. Game time is 7pm at Matson Field in Moorhead.
