Brewers Sweep Saints To Earn Regional Playoff Berth

The Brew Crew took two from the Moorhead Saints to open the 2007 West Central League Playoffs on Sunday at Teamster Field to conclude a long weekend of baseball, winning 4 out of 5 total games.  Saturday's action in Nimrod, MN started with a loss to the Bemidji Mudcats (3-6) but the Brewers bounced back in the 2nd game of the afternoon against the Lakes Area Lightning with a 6-1 win behind the arm of Gabe Shockman.  Gabe did not allow a hit through 6 innings, despite allowing 6 walks and Ryan Olson finished off the 7th inning to conclude the no hitter.

The Brewers camped out in the Nimrod area and returned to the field Sunday morning to put a whipping on the Staples Legionnaires, 8-0.

The weekend concluded with a double-header matchup with the Moorhead Saints back in Fargo.  In the opener the Brewers scored early and often to back starting pitcher Brook Lyter as they easily topped the Saints 14-0.  Kent Moser went 4 for 5 with a pile of rbi's.  In the nightcap Andy Leraas took the hill and shut down the Saints again, 3-0.

With the victories over the Saints the Brewers have now guaranteed a spot in the Regional playoffs.
