The Moorhead Brewers will take the #1 Seed out of the West Central League with them into the Region 12C Tournament which begins this weekend in Crookston.  After posting consecutive 2-game sweeps of both the Saints and the Miners, the Brewers were idle last weekend to earn some much needed rest.  The Brewers will be looking to earn their 4th straight trip to the Minnesota Class C Tournament as well as their 4th consecutive Region 12C Championship.  Going back to 2004 they are 9-0 in regional play.

     Regional play-in games begin on Wednesday night with the Moorhead Miners facing the Itasca League runner-up Nashwauk. The winner moves on to face the East Grand Forks Heaters the following night to earn a spot in the double elimination portion of the tournament.  Both play-in games will be held at Jim Karn Field in Crookston. 

    League champions from the West Central(Brewers), Norman-Polk(Crookston), and Itasca(Bemidji Blue Ox) will be joined by the play-in winner as the Region 12C tournament kicks off at 10 am on Saturday in Crookston with a 4 games on tap.  The tournament will conclude the following weekend in Ada as the top 2 teams will represent Region 12 at the State Class C tournament to be held in Hamburg and Norwood beginning August 16th.

Update:

Region 12C tournament field is set after the East Grand Forks Heaters defeated the Moorhead Miners in the play-in game last night.  Four teams will begin play tomorrow in Crookston at Jim Karn Field.
