Regional Opening Round Recap

The Brew Crew suffered a devastating loss in the opening round of regionals, losing in shocking fashion to the East Grand Forks Heaters, 8-10.  The Brewers took a 6-0 lead into the 7th inning with the game seemingly all but over.

However, the Brewers were reminded to `never count your chickens until they're hatched'.

The wheels fell off the bus in a bizarre inning marred by bad pitching and devastating fielding errors.  When the inning was over, the EGF Heaters had somehow taken the lead, putting a 7-spot up in the 7th...

The Heaters continued to do damage by putting up another 3 runs and the Brewers made a gut-check comeback in the bottom of the ninth but fell short in the end.

The Brewers appeared dazed and confused for a while but regrouped in time to put together a show for the Bemidji Blue Ox in the elimination game.  With the season on the line, the Brewers sent Brock Gnadt to the hill and he simply overpowered the hapless Blue Ox.  Chris Clemenson started the game despite two bad hamstrings and provided a monster bomb - a crushing shot well over the 403 sign in dead center - that put the game away early.  This time the Brewers were able to finish the game early with a 11-0 final tally in 7 innings.

The win keeps the Brewers hopes of returning to the state tournament alive, but now have another elimination game to overcome this Saturday in Ada against the Crookston Reds.
