GAME SUMMARY
With a 12 game winning streak on the line the Moorhead Brewers faced the Dassel-Cokato Saints at Dassel Ballpark Saturday night. The Brewers jumped on the hosts from the get go scoring 2 runs in the 1st and another in the 2nd. With the 3-0 lead the Brewers squandered many chances to blow the contest wide open hitting into 3 double plays. Kirk Dehler started for the Brewers and was up to the task only allowing one weak hit through 5 complete innings. Things would quickly change in the bottom of the 6th as the Saints rallied to put up 4 runs and take the lead sending 10 batters to the plate in the frame. The score would remain 4-3 in favor of the Saints until the top of the 9th. Matt Oye led off the inning with a single bringing Jeremy Peschel to the dish. JP battled the Saints reliever and put the Brewers back on top with a 2-run laser over the centerfield fence in dramatic fashion. The Saints came back with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to knot the game at 5-5. The game was callled a draw after 9 innings as lightning lit up the skies and torrential rain would soon follow. Jeremy Peschel led the Brewers offensively falling a triple short of the cycle driving in 3 runs. The gracious hosts invited the crew up to their clubhouse for some cold beverages and it was learned that this was the first tie in the history of the Saints. It would mark the second time the Brewers tied going back in time to 2001 in their very first game when the lights went out in Dent or some may remember when the Looper struck out and got hit in the beans. Next action for the Brewers is Tuesday night as they travel to Jack Brown Field in Jamestown to take on the Elks.
