GAME SUMMARY
The opening game of the 2012 Northwest Amateur Baseball Championships saw the Moorhead Brewers take on the Pelican Rapids Lakers on Thursday night at Jack Williams Field. Mike Peschel got the Brewers going with a line drive single with one out in the bottom of the 1st and came around to score on Chris Clemenson's homer to put the Brewers on top early 2-0. Peschel would again lead the charge in the 3rd after he singled and later scored after Tom Fuch's soft liner to left was mishandled making the score 3-0 in favor of the Brewers. The lead was more than enough for Brewer starter Jason Beilke as he held the Lakers down with 6 shutout allowing only 4 Laker hits while striking out 12. Nine of the first 12 Lakers to step into the batters box were victim to strikeouts. Mike Peschel earned the save in the 7th putting the Lakers away with consecutive K's to end the game.
